Yes, it’s doable, there were lots of people doing it. You just need to add another 2 hours to the hike (from bottom station to top station). So if you go up and down +/- 4 hours
But before the lift was built, the most common way to reach the lakes was through Skakavitsa hut, the trail from there brings you to Lake Babreka.
